Work in Process: Relaunching “The Right Wing”

Last academic year, I had the pleasure of serving as Editor-in-Chief of “The Right Wing.” The previous semester saw the blog fall into disrepair, but starting next week we will begin to feature content by AUCRs, for AUCRs. If you would like to be a contributor, please email  aucollegerepublican@gmail.com with the subject line “The Right Wing.”

The AUCR website, which is currently under maintenance, will soon be relaunching with the blog incorporated into it. In the meantime, our original content will be published here. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. It has served a very important role in the club’s past and will continue to play a part in the future.

Chris Litchfield Resigns, Calls AUCRs Racist, Proves That a “Dialogue” Would be Stupid

Former AU Dems President Chris Litchfield taking part in an "Occupy DC" protest that blocked a handicapped woman from exiting a building.

Chris Litchfield is no longer president of the AU College Democrats.  He resigned in an unintentionally hilarious op-ed printed in this week’s edition of The Eagle.

I could respond to each of his ridiculous claims, but I have better things to do (like study for midterms).  So I’ll just list for you some of his most egregious lies:

  • SB 1070 “codified racial profiling” and forces police and teachers “to conform to a racist ideology”
  •  CRs have “organized multiple events targeting certain demographics with hateful programming”
  • AUCRs are antisemitic for eating ham on the quad
  • AUCRs posted anti-Che Guevara posters on the first day of Latino History Month
  • The anti-Che posters were “racism and intimidation”

Why Did the Anti-Brewer Protesters Gather Outside of Kay? (Video)

Last week, The Right Wing brought you exclusive details about how AU Dems President Chris Litchfield was actively involved in the protests against AZ Gov. Jan Brewer.  We also released video that showed Litchfield expressing his “love” for the protesters.

Today we can release more video from outside of Kay Spiritual Life Center, which clearly shows Litchfield socializing with the protesters.  It also features a female AU student spreading misinformation about the AUCR Jan Brewer event.

A Turning Point in Campus Dialogue

The following is an excerpt from an opinion piece I wrote for the Eagle back in November following the involvement of Occupy AU in a disruptive protest at the DC Convention Center that bordered on violent.

This is absolutely shameful and a tragic disgrace to American.

While this university prides itself on its dedication to promoting an active student role in public affairs, we are also supposed to stand as a tolerant, open-minded example to the rest of society.

We encourage students to debate issues affecting our community, our country, and the world at large, however it is understood that they must do so respectfully and, at all times, remember that they reflect on the rest of us and the values that this institution strives for.

Chris Litchfield to Anti-Brewer Protesters: “You People are Beautiful”

On Thursday, we brought you the exclusive details about how AU Dems President Chris Litchfield took part in the protest against Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, which led to her untimely exit from campus.

Reaction has been mixed, unsurprisingly.  Those with negative reactions appear to misunderstand the point of the report, so I’d like to take a brief opportunity to clear things up.

AU Dems President Actively Involved with Anti-Brewer Protest

The Right Wing has exclusively confirmed that American University College Democrats President Chris Litchfield was actively involved with the protest against AZ Gov. Jan Brewer. The protest, which took place January 24, resulted in Gov. Brewer’s early exit from the University.  College Republicans organized the event.

This confirmation comes after nearly a week of investigation by The Right Wing and weak denials by the AU Dems.  Following the protest, the AU Democrats Executive Board put out a statement reading in part:

Despite the divergent views of the AU College Democrats and Governor Brewer, we want to make it clear that the AU College Democrats had no role in organizing or orchestrating the protest at Governor Brewer’s event on Friday.

While it may be true that the AU College Democrats had no role in the protest as an organization, the President of the club did, in fact, play an active role.

No, Disrupting an AUCR Event is not “AWESOMEEEEE”

Over the next few weeks, we will be unveiling the results of our investigation.  In the meantime, I will be posting little tidbits of wisdom from the Occupy AU crowd.  These are purely for your entertainment.  Please be respectful to the misguided morons who are featured in these posts.
